Nestled in the heart of Singapores Chinatown within a conservation shophouse, East Inspirations is a home-grown antique shop specializing in Chinese antique porcelain and furniture, and vintage works of art from China and South-east Asia. It is well known amongst local collectors as one of the main purveyors of genuine Chinese antiques in Singapore.

East Inspirations was founded in 1997 by its owner PK Cheong, a well respected local expert in Chinese antiques. It however had its beginnings even earlier in 1985 as Far East Lamp Art, a shop specializing in custom-made table lamps using antique Chinese porcelain bodies.

PK Cheong has been a collector and connoisseur of Chinese antiques for many years. During his many trips to China in the 1980s and 1990s, before restrictions were placed upon exporting antique porcelain from China, he purchased many items for his own collection, as well as hundreds of antique porcelain pieces (lidless jars and slightly chipped vases) for conversion into table-lamps. In the course of this hobby-cum-business, he has built up a vast network of contacts amongst dealers as well as collectors in China and South-east Asia.

Today, even though the flow of genuine Chinese antiques from China is heavily restricted, PK Cheong continues to source antiques from collectors in Singapore and South-east Asia. He has also built up a thriving business dealing in vintage works of art including artist porcelain, sculptures and Yixing teaware.
