apt. Tan Kai Long is a qualified Foreign-going Master Mariner, and has been in the shipping industry for more than 40 years. After completing Pre-Sea Training at the School of Nautical Studies in 1969, he spent 13 years at sea serving in various ascending capacities from Deck Officer to Master-in-command on vessels of various types and sizes. His command experience included taking delivery as Master of a newly-constructed Panamax-class bulk carrier of 64,000 tonnes in 1981 from Hitachi Zosen Shipyard, Innoshima, Japan.

Capt Tan settled ashore in 1982 to work as Port Captain in a local shipping company looking after the operations of a fleet of 17 freighters. In 1984, he left to co-establish a group of marine survey and consultancy firms with office in Singapore and Hong Kong, to provide services in ships registry and representing duly authorized ?Recognized Organizations for the surveys and issuance of statutory technical trading certificates to Panamanian and Honduran merchant vessels.

In 1993, Capt. Tan established his own firm, ?SHIPLINK MARINE SURVEYS & CONSULTANCY PTE LTD, to focus on providing specialized professional services in marine consultancy and surveys. The Company specializes in ship registry works and marine surveys for classification and statutory certification under a wide range of flags. Through close to three decades of strong commitment in this field of business, Capt. Tan has established extensive worldwide contacts, and to-date, he has developed a reliable and efficient global network for the Company to serve clients from all over the world.

Since May 2005, SHIPLINK MARINE SURVEYS & CONSULTANCY PTE LTD has been the Singapore Representative Office for ST KITTS & NEVIS INTERNATIONAL SHIP REGISTRY (SKANReg) and Capt. Tan was appointed as its Maritime Registrar. This appointment is the result of our continuous effort to provide a wide range of choice in ship registry to meet the different needs and requirements of individual ship owner. As the SKANReg Maritime Registrar, we are authorized to issue all the pertinent ship registration documents to ships registered in St. Kitts & Nevis International Ship Registry.

In 2007, as part of our expansion plan, SHIPLINK INTERNATIONAL REGISTRIES PTE LTD, was incorporated as a subsidiary Company to procure more appointments and expand our services to serve our clients better.
