Wong Yiu Nam was originally a TCM physician, practicing and saving lives. At the end of the Qing Dynasty in China, during Emperor Guangxu reign, he uses the elixir-trained General Relieving Pill as a registered trademark to manufacture prescriptions, providing service to the population in Guangdong.

In the beginning of 1935, Guangzhou was faced with wars and the people fell into hardship. Many businessmen brought their whole family and escape to Singapore-Malaysia region for refuge, thinking that life would improve after migrating to Southeast Asia. Unexpectedly, they found themselves landing on a place with hot and humid climate, and many of them started falling sick even before settling down. At that time, a businessman from Hong Kong by the name of Mr. Yan Xing Shi brought the trade name of Wong Yiu Nam Medical Hall to Singapore and establishes the Singapore Wong Yiu Nam Medical Hall, in order to take care of the immigrants.

Under the careful management of the Yan brothers, Wong Yiu Nam has become a well-known traditional medical hall in Singapore. Their strict regulations on the quality of their herbs have won recognition from the public. Their famous products besides the General Relieving Pills, their Pu Ji pills, Bak Fong pills, Ling Shen pills, Awakening pills, Bo Ying pills, Sedative pills and many others Chinese patent medicine has market throughout Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Singapore Wong Yiu Nam Medical Hall insists on keeping the heritage and tradition when using herbs. In order to provide service for more people and to strengthen their herbs management processes, WYN handed the team over to professional managers to lead who adopt a more efficient management method that is in line with the current times since 1976. Past professional managers appointed are Feng Jian Sheng, Lin Ya Yu, and Chen Bao Sui. In the 1980s, Singapore Wong Yiu Nam Medical Hall in cooperation with Singapores government plans of building Lucky Chinatown, has shifted from the old address of 215 Victoria Street to the current address of 51 Temple Street and has been operating till date.

Singapore Wong Yiu Nam Medical Hall is able to sustain their business for a long time as they always believe in the heritage and authenticity of their medical hall, insisting on using quality herbs, with the aim of saving lives with the best herbs, and this belief remains unchanged for the even the second generation. In the ever-changing business world, this has helped preserve the root of the Chinese in Singapore and the origin of Singapore Chinese herbs.
